A member asked:

I recently had unprotected sex and took my choice emergency contraceptive the next day. im still pretty nervous of it not working because i am not sure if i am ovulating. what are the chances of me getting pregnant?

Low: My choice (Levonorgestrel) emergency contraception is very effective in preventing pregnancy if taken as directed. If taken within 24 hours it is 95% effective in preventing pregnancy and about 87% effective if taken at 72 hours (3 days). The effectiveness decreases the longer you wait to take it but it should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex.
