Let me help you: Therapy for osgood-schlatter disease is conservative. Initial treatment includes the application of ice for 20 minutes every 2-4 hours, rest the limb till symptoms cool down. Analgesics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may be given for pain relief and reduction of local inflammation. Steroid injections should not be used. Sometimes we use brace to rest the knee.

Stretching: Initial treatment is to stop the offending cause (running, jumping), rest, ice, NSAID's. The cure for this problem is to stretch the hamstring tendons behind the knee which have tightened as the long bones are growing. Quad strengthening will also help. Avoid any surgery!! Very common in adolescents.

Osgood- Schlatter: Osgood- Schlatter disease often occurs during growth spurts, when bones, muscles, and tendons are changing rapidly. Rest, OTC NSAIDs, and stretching and strengthening exercises will relieve pain and allow a return to daily activities in most cases. Occasionally, excision of the ossicle is required via an arthroscopic or open approach
