Diverticulitis Rx: Probably ciprofloxacin alone will be effective, especially if you took the metronidazole (Flagyl) for at least a few days. Discuss with your doctor's office if you remain uncertain. Also ask if cipro is the best choice in view of potential side effects. Cipro and related drugs are more dangerous than once believed; FDA advises they never be used if another drug will do the job (e.g. doxycycline).
