A member asked:

Spinach was in a packet but got squashed at bottom of grocery bag for around an hour. it had small amount of green water in top edge of packet and looked squashed. is it still safe to eat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: The green fluid is simply the juice from the squeezed spinach. Make sure there is no mold (grey-while fluffy layer) or bad smell. Otherwise, wash and cook thoroughly before eating
