A member asked:

If a 21 yr old patient was drinking a heavy amount of alcohol the night before visiting the er and receiving an abdominal ct scan, is it possible that they would sustain more dna damage from radiation due to the alcohol?

No: One CT scan will not cause even remotely significant DNA damage. Your cells turn over all the time. The alcohol is many time more dangerous to your body than one CT scan. You can die from alcohol. You can't die from the radiation of one CT scan.
