A member asked:

There are 5 parallel linear areas of volume loss in the inferior medial aspect of the left cerebellar hemisphere." hereditary ataxia has been suggested but no follow up? would only one side be impacted with hereditary ataxia's like mine?

Radiology Finding: You do not say whether your SYMPTOMS are only on one side or not. One sided cerebellar disease on the left should cause symptoms of incoordination or other on the right side. It would be extremely unusual, if not impossible, for a hereditary ataxia to cause only one-sided symptoms. A neurologist should be able to sort this out most of the time.
