Unrelated probably: The red patch and the extra "pooping" are probably unrelated and should be evaluated anyway. It is more likely two separate things going on. Rashes can have a LOT of causes, and assuming that his stools are not bloody or diarrheal, this might just represent constipation that is relieving itself. Not knowing the age of your son, dietary changes can also cause more BMs.
