A member asked:

Can celiac disease cause mental disorders or problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can: Many patients with celiac disease suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and irritabity. Some actually describe that they can feel decreased mental acuity when ingesting gluten and call it the "gluten fog". Interestingly enough, gluten can also be related to sleep disorders such as insomnia and restless leg syndrome.
