They are different: Corona virus is more contagious and its mortality rate has been shown to be more than regular flu. In fact at the present time it has caused more death of Americans in 2 months than the flu does in a year. Plus that the pandemic is not yet ended and the projected mortality rate within the next few month will increase the total death rate another 1.5 to 2 times the current numbers.
