Unknown: As a diabetic you fall into the category of underlying medical problems. If you smoke (anything) or abuse alcohol, as so many people your age do, you are at even greater risk. Follow all the precautions coming from reliable sources (that leaves out social media). If you get a sore throat and run a mild to high fever, call your General Physician's office and ask what you should do.

Probable: I know there is a study that shows concern for diabetics, however, this is one study and there are others that show no particular issue. The data is clear that older, especially older than 70, multiple comorbid conditioins and smoking are critical problems. Although diabetic if it is controlled well it is likely your symptoms will be like most 38 year olds- mild.
