Depends: If it is truly the flu anti-viral meds started within the 1st 48-72 hrs can decrease the intensity of the illness. They don't stop the contagious nature or kill the germ. Otherwise a focus on maintaining fluid balance, rest and simple nutrition are the main treatment.
