No worries, but...: IUD's are for prevention of pregnancy. An IUD does not prevent infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, etc... If any chance of infections in either person, more protection is needed. Contraceptive effect of IUD's lasts for some time longer than the date due for replacement. There is no noticeable difference in the month before that date and the month after that date. Life is not that exact!
