A member asked:

I have had my implanon ofor a little more than 3 years what are my consequences and risks for not removing it at the exact 3 year period?

Pregnancy: It is recommended that the Implanon be removed after three years of use. You should not rely on it for contraception if you have had it in for more than three years.

Pregnancy: The main concern is loss of birth control. If you wait too long, encapsulation (scarring) may make it harder to remove later. Better to just see your physician and swap it out for a new one.
