Doctor can examine: A "cut" means different things to different people. It's too hard to describe in words, so an exam is needed. If no stitching or repair is needed, a video appointment may suffice. Otherwise, and in-person exam is best. If there is redness, that could be inflammation as part of healing, or that could be an infection. Periorbital infection (around an eye) would need antibiotic treatment.

Depth and extent: The depth and extent of the wound should be evaluated. Check that there is normal eye movement in all directions. There should be no pus or increase in swelling. Gently place an ice bag on the area to reduce swelling and relieve pain. Keep the area clean by dabbing antiseptic on the wound. Please see a physician for evaluation if the wound is gaping open
