My 12yr old son has pimple like stuff on his arm for a year now. they look dry, have no pus, are not growing or drying out & they are not itchy. i took him to a gp & he referred him to a dermatologist for molluscum contagiosum, should i go?

Must be diagnosed : It is a viral condition, lasts few months as pink raised spots like chicken pox lesions. But these are self healing in a few months. Rarely treatment is needed by excision or scraping of lesions.

Molluscum contagiosum rarely lasts so long, is uncommon at age 12, and the arm is an unusual locations. Seeing a dermatologist definitely makes sense to confirm the diagnosis (or something else) and recommend treatment. Good luck.
