May be normal: A breastfed infant can poop a smear every feed or one blowout once a week & be normal. It is good that the kid had a 1st poop, but I would not assume this is a bad sign. If it goes past a week or so discuss it with someone who can examine them.

Can be normal: Depending on whether you are nursing or bottle feeding, the frequency of stooling can vary...from many times per day to once a week. If your child is eating well and having 5-6 wet diapers per day, I would not worry about the stool, especially if he/she did stool while still in the hospital. I would recommend that you speak to your child’s doctor.
