A member asked:

What is considered a healthy, typical period of survival of cancer patients after treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Let's clarify: Today, four out of six cancers get cured, generally with no reason to think life is shortened. Most who die do so within five years from diagnosis. Typical length of survival varies with tumor type and response to treatment. Oat cell carcinoma and acute myelogenous leukemia kill within days / weeks if not treated.
