A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood Thinners: Thrombosis is the medical term for clot. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is clot in a deep vein, most commonly in the leg. In the short term, there's risk of clot breaking off and travelling to the lungs which can be fatal. Long term there's risk of damaging the affected vein, chronic swelling or ulcers. The treatment is blood thinners for 3-6 mos or longer. A filter may be placed to prevent embolus.
