Many things: Trauma such as broken bones, sprains, strains. Problems with veins and lymphatic systems. Systemic disorders such as high blood pressure, and heart failure. Blood clots may cause swelling of one leg. Treatment can include elevation and compressive wraps along with medication. See your primary care physician for an evaluation.
