Shoe change: Tight shoes can cause infection. If you do have an infection typically an antibiotic is indicated for treatment. Sometimes thought the foot can get red simply due to pressure effects from the shoes. A shoe change may be all that is necessary.

Antibiotics: The way is to keep the area clean and use an antibiotic cream on the area. If it doesn't get better in a day or two, go to the doctor, because you may need oral antibiotics
