Depends: After someone is exposed to hcv, most people have no symptoms. It is called a "silent epidemic" because people can live 20 - 40 years with no symptoms, or maybe just feeling tired, while the hcv is causing liver damage. Since many people were infected in the 1960-1980's, they have already experienced damage. This is why everyone born between 1945-1965 should be tested.
