One Dose or Two ?: If you only received one dose of hepatitis a vaccine & more than a year has passed it is possible your immunity has diminished & you might then be at risk for becoming infected with the hepatitis a virus. A single dose of the vaccine protects you for about a year, 2 doses protect you for 20 year & probably lifetime. That second dose is critical. The 2 doses have to be at least 6 months apart.
