I had stabbing pain thyroid area for 5 min a week ago. now it only hurts when swallowing big bites of food. recently upped thyroid med from 90mg to 120mg. i dont see or feel any lumps, no fever. dr appt in a week. what could cause this? thank you.

Thyroiditis : An enlarged thyroid can cause discomfort on swallowing. The pain of thyroid inflammation usually lasts a lot longer than 5 minutes. Your symptom doesn't appear to be serious at this time. If throat pain on swallowing persists, have an Otolaryngologist examine and advise you if you prefer not to wait a week to see your MD.
