Of course not: Whoever told you this was simply lying. It makes no sense biologically, and vegetarians have no advantage over meat-eaters in terms of longevity or any category of illness including cancer as shown in the last few big studies. Ignore zealots like this -- they're almost always offering disinformation. If you want to become a vegetarian, just acknowledge it's for moral reasons and supplement wisely.
