Doctor can evaluate: It's hard to describe in words and visualize what the issue is when it comes to colors and bumps. One's primary care doctor can examine and usually easily figure out the issue. A teen can see her pediatrician or family medicine doctor. Not sure what one means by "every grunt is normal," but it sounds reassuring.
