A member asked:

From a medical point of view (and i am not sure that there ought to be any other), could you please tell me whether there is any difference between hypostatic pneumonia and bronchopneumonia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pneumonias: Bronchopneumonia is a lung inflammation that does not involve an entire lobe. Hypostatic pneumonia is caused by ineffective expansion of the lungs and is seen in elderly people or bedridden people. It may be a bronchopneumonia or lobar. Here, respiratory physical therapy to encourage better breathing mechanics is used in addition to antibiotics.
