Ask the prescriber: Only the prescribing doctor knows the whole story about the patient and his condition. A person in his late 60's may have several medical conditions and some chronic medications. We don't want to guess what might happen with varying doses of corticosteroids. In a healthy normal young adult, usually nothing too bad happens if he took 24mg at one time instead of 8mg three times in one day.
