Psychiatrist. ER.: Pregnancy and psychiatric illnesses do happen together. Maternal psychiatric illness is not good for a pregnant woman and surely is bad for the baby after delivery. That means a woman with such a condition must work closely with her psychiatrist, her primary care doctor, and her Ob-Gyn doctor before-during-after pregnancy. Psychiatric meds often need to continue during those times.
