Many things possible: On the right side are the ribs, chest muscles, the lung, and the lining of the lung (pleura). Nearby are the arteries, lymph nodes in the armpit, etc... So, pain can originate from many places. Sometimes there is a problem in a part of the body a little farther away, but the nerves carrying the pain signals can "refer" pain to the right armpit and ribcage area. One's primary care doctor can check.
