A member asked:

My son, 21 yes, has low diastolic blood pressure of between 47 to 53. systolic is around 114. is this something he should see a dr for? if yes, which kind of dr?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cardiologist: For this isolated, mild diastolic hypotension(less than 60), a cardiologist is best to evaluate and advise him. He would be evaluated with a stethoscope to listen for heart murmurs, a 12 lead EKG to look for valvular heart muscle damage or abnormal heart rate or rhythm and an echocardiogram to look for any valvular or heart muscle abnormalities and dysfunction.
