A member asked:

Is it normal to spot and have lower abdominal pains just before your period if you are on the pill if this has never happened before?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oral BCP's: Today's oral bcp's contain low amounts of hormones compared to prior decades. Not taking them punctually can cause, therefore, withdrawal bleeding. Take the active bcp's within the hour of having taken the prior active pill. In this case, simply stop the pill, wait five days, and start a new pack with the first active pill of the new pack. If bleeding persists, see your gyn physician.
