A member asked:

How does free air get outside lungs, how does it leave and is it serious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Damage to : the lung tissue causing leakage of air, or damage to the tissue sealing the chest cavity causing leakage of air. Small amounts, 10 % of chest cavity can reabsorb. But the cause should be determined and treated, regardless, with your doctor.
