A member asked:

Which treatment do they give you for herpes type 2?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Acyclovir/ valtrex (valacyclovir): Depending on the severity and frequency of your outbreaks, different treatment regimens are used. Some people have such infrequent outbreaks that they are on no treatment at all. For frequent, recurring outbreaks, daily Valtrex (valacyclovir) may be used to suppress the outbreaks. For some people, instead of taking daily suppressive medicine, they begin oral Acyclovir or Valtrex (valacyclovir) at the first sign of an outbreak.
