Sternum pain: This may be due to strain from work, injury or athletic exercise, but if these aren't issues, and there is associated tenderness along the junction of the sternum and ribs, costochondritis, or inflammation of the joint or joints, is likely. A course of anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen as well as avoiding strain should help. See MD as needed if not improved.
