A member asked:

I have a strange lump in my neck. it seems to be getting bigger and more sensitive to touch?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

That's not good: The normal hard lumps in the neck are bones, which are symmetrical (left side is the same as right side). Any other newly-found hard lump should be evaluated as soon as one's doctor is available, within a few days to a week. At the bottom of the earlobe is the mastoid bone. If one side, either left or right, is much bigger than the other side, that is not normal and needs evaluation.
