A member asked:

How can i tell if i need to go to the doctor for throwing up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on severity: A person throwing up beyond 3 days has more than a simple little illness. Throwing up for 1-2 days from viral infections, the flu, eating bad food, etc... might be alright. For prolonged vomiting, severe vomiting (that depletes the body's fluids), bloody vomiting, or in addition to other worrisome symptoms or preexisting conditions, a patient should be evaluated by her primary care doctor or ER.
