I recieved an abdominal scan w contrast at the er because of extreme right side pain. i couldnt uncurl for 10 minutes. being so young, have i increased my cancer risk? i know it is = to 1 year of natural radiation but all at once? isn't that worse?

No. Don't worry.: Patients get CT scans all over the world, every day. As long as there is a good reason for the scan, it is fine to do. If repeated scans are planned, to follow some sort of serious illness, a patient can ask her doctor what other options there are, in order to decrease the total number of scans in her lifetime. Having repeated CT scans over and over and over, can sometimes add up to too much.
