A member asked:

My blood pressure is 118/80 but heart rate is 101. why could this be? i do have a cough.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tachycardia: Your heart rate can temporarily rise while or after a coughing spasm but a resting heart rate of 101 is abnormal and can be caused by fever, overactive thyroid, abnormal cardiac rhythms, stimulants like alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and certain medications. I recommend an evaluation by a physician and testing including an EKG, thyroid tests, cbc.
