Usually not serious: Small lumps on the neck are USUALLY not a concern, especially when they are soft and mobile. It may be related to your recent infection (a reactive lymph node). Since you don't mention the size of the lump, it's hard to really say what it could be. If the lump fails to go away or at least start to shrink after a couple weeks, I would recommend having your Dr take a look at it.

Lymph node: In all probability this is a swollen lymph node. If you have had a recent viral infection this can cause the lymphnode to swell and be more noticeable.

Lump on the neck : There are several normal lumps on the neck and enlarged lymph nodes are common on the neck from upper respiratory tract infections. Your concern is best evaluated by seeing a doctor in person
