Dr. or ER can check: Normal healthy young adults can get the stomach flu or food poisoning symptoms from time to time. A patient will usually vomit until her stomach is all empty, which is why it is helpful to not eat or drink anything for a few hours afterwards. That said, a person who is not balancing well likely needs examination in the ER to see if IV rehydration is needed, and diagnose a possible cause.
