A member asked:

Hemoglobin at 15.4 hematocrit at 45 what does this mean should i worry ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Numbers are numbers: Lab results are numbers, and numbers are just numbers. They have little meaning without looking at the whole person. One's primary care doctor can review the big picture and decide if these numbers are good, bad, or neutral. For example, one might want to know if the numbers were higher or lower last week or last month. That said, a Hgb of 15.4 by itself in an adult does not have a bad meaning.
