A member asked:

What are the consequences associated with not starting birth control pills for the first time on the first day of your period ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much at all, but: A main reason we have a woman start a pack of birth control pills when her period starts is because the appearance of her period generally means she is not pregnant. We try to avoid starting a pill pack in a pregnant woman because she doesn't need the pills. If she starts pills and MIGHT be pregnant, she can do a urine pregnancy test 3 weeks later to find out, while still on the pills.
