Viral pneumonias may require speciific antiviral medications.If severe.Sometimes patients have to be hospitalized depending on patient's age and severity of process.Supplemental respiratory therapy and oxygen may be necessary.If pleural effusion accompanies infection may be removed by chest tube or thoroscopy.
