My child was born with fully functioning lungs, due to environmental issues he started having chest infections. he's 3 and has been treated for chest infections about 3 times now. the last being mid march 2020. he's coughing persistently again...

Confusing post: The average infant is expected to get 4-6 upper respiratory infections/yr & these can include an occasional one with lower airway effects. Some docs use antibiotics with these when they feel a bronchitis may worsen without meds. Your post is otherwise vague & not specific to a particular diagnosis or treatment. I would review your concerns with the kids treating physician.

Among these are asthma, post viral inflammation, and post nasal drip. Use nasal saline, cool air mist, monitor his temperature and provide fluids until evaluated. Keep all vaccines up to date.
