Usually not bad: Most kids have stabbed their hands with a pencil at one time or another. Normal kids are healthy enough to heal up fine after a splinter or a pencil stab. If it's a big stab, not just the graphite writing tip, then the doctor at the office (not the ER) can take a look. Washing it out vigorously will help. If worried about a piece still in the skin, or about anything else, the doctor can check.
