8 weeks pregnant ?'s: At eight weeks of pregnancy, the placenta may not produce the same level of progesterone as the ovary did before ceasing production. This is normal, and may produce some cramping just like prior to a regular period. Check with your OB physician who may prescribe progesterone to supplement the placental production until it "catches up" with the ovarian level.
