I am experiencing severe lower back pain only on the right hand side. it is present sometimes during the day but is much worse when i lie down or try to sleep, to the point that im not able to sleep. ?

Back strain is most common, however some type of neurological symptoms can be caused by disc disease, spinal stenosis, radicular pain at spinal level. Pyriformis spasm another possibility. Fever, fall from hight, history of cancer or chronic steroid use are all factors that can make onset of back pain more concerning.
