A member asked:

How long after your first dose of an hpv vaccine are you protected from contracting hpv via sexual contact?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to guess: Nobody knows for sure, because each individual makes antibodies at her own rate after a vaccination. Since sexual contact is not an urgent requirement, meaning there is almost never a mandatory need to do sexual activities, one can wait a month. A month should be enough time to have high enough antibodies, which likely start appearing and protecting a couple of weeks after the first shot.
