Exam needed: Shoulder inflammation, as seen in tendinitis, can cause radiation of pain to the chest. Nerve impingement by a bulging disc or spur in the neck or upper back vertebra can cause radiation to the shoulder. A physician or neurologist can examine you and pinpoint the probable cause. Xrays and/or MRI may be recommended as part of the assessment. Treatment options will be discussed.
