A member asked:

I have a boil that has been draining for over a week what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can recheck: If a skin boil or abscess got lanced, but later is still firm and tender, or firm and warm, or keeps draining, it usually means there is still infection and pus under the skin. That means going back to the doctor for a recheck and perhaps a reopening to get any pus out and maybe leave gauze packing in the hole so that any drainage can get out... thus letting the hole heal from the bottom up.
